EXPECTATIONS
These expectations form our Code of Conduct that the Te Wharekura o Mauao community mustagree to. These expectations form the foundation of how we conduct ourselves every day.
NGĀ HIAHIA MŌ NGĀ WHĀNAU
- To embrace and support the direction and philosophy of the Wharekura
- To partner the Wharekura in the education of their children
- To encourage their children to have big dreams, and be the best they can be
- To be progressive thinkers and walk towards the future
- To know that whānau are there when they’re needed, and when their taitamaiti needs them
NGĀ HIAHIA MŌ NGĀ TAUIRA
- To pursue excellence in every endeavour
- To engage in learning and ask for support when needed
- To role model excellence and support younger tauira within the Wharekura
- To attend Wharekura every day - attendance is a necessity. Without it, opportunities for success
- significantly diminish
- To dress themselves as Rangatira would dress - dress to pursue excellence
- To understand and strive to achieve the Tōmairangi - Ringawhiti (preparedness, readiness), Te Reo
- Rangatira (commitment to Te Reo Māori), Matahīapo (contribution & commitment), Ihuoneone
- (diligence) and Waiaro Manawa Popore (attitude, aptitude, fortitude)
- Te Wharekura o Mauao has a zero tolerance to bullying, fighting, offensive language, drugs, alcohol,
- theft and bringing the school into disrepute (e.g. social media, texting, sideline behaviour at school
- events etc)

- To plan innovative, engaging, and creative programmes that maximise the potential for learning
- To provide a learning environment as a platform for tauira to be independent thinkers that can
- make good choices and contribute meaningfully to the community and wider society
- To offer an environment of success that encourages tauira to follow suit
- To provide a nurturing environment that offers support for the whole tauira
- To be the embodiment of our Tōmairangi and provide clear role modeling of these values – Ringawhiti (preparedness, readiness), Te Reo Rangatira (commitment to Te Reo Māori), Matahīapo (contribution & commitment), Ihuoneone (diligence), Waiaro Manawa Popore (attitude, aptitude, fortitude)
